Let's get Patri Artic Up in Here!

This week's guests were themed to help celebrate our nations's 4th of July celebration. First up we let people know about the World War II Tour happening this October. The Muscatine American Legion is helping gather donations to send 30 WWII vets to the memorial in Washington D.C. We were honored to have an actual WWII vet as one of the guests.

Then we had the Muscatine Cultural Alliance speaking about the PartriArt Week this June 28th, to July 4th. June 28th is celebration at the Brew. Yocom will be on the Historic Bike ride event Sunday the 29th, portraying the founder of the Weber Button Co. Wednesday is Blues in the Park (weed park), with Andrew Landers & Ellis Kell at 6pm. Thursday is a great event on Downtown Streets. And, of course friday is the fireworks celebration.

We have a break next week. Then doing three or four 'late night' versions of the show with call-ins, local editorial, satire, etc. thursdays at 9:30pm.

Flooding is a bad deal.

Not trying to be insensitive, I would say the flooding situation is a bad deal, and our sympathies to those majorly affected. Looks like columbus junction got hit hard, again, that is a bad deal but they came together as a community, so some good did come of it.

Otherwise, we chatted with the lil league team, the orioles. Yocom claims to have future major league stars on the team, so what an honor to get to interview them before they hit the bigs.

We are going to get patriatoic next week, so flag burners best not tune in. We will talk about the downtown 'partriart' celebrations and have a guest from the american legion talking about a WWII memorial tour that some local vets are going to attend.

Maybe some ricking and rolling, you never know.

Lil' League

This week we had Yocom's Little League team the Orioles out on the show. Muscatine has a great baseball/softball scene at Kent-Stein Park, and four of the team members got some air-time talking about life in the little leagues.

Look's like the end of the world is just that much closer, as another round of flooding is rampaging the area. Go out and live it up, because the apocolypse can't be far, as each year more sporadic weather catastrophes, disease, famine, fallen economies, gas shortages, etc, seem to be taking over.

Next week we will talk about the PatriArt Week of festivities in Muscatine, and the WWII Veterans Honor Tour.

Then in July, the afterhours version of the show kicks in, where we take phone calls and chat about hyper local topics of interest and current events. The show records LIVE thursdays at 9:30pm then only re-broadcasts late at night after the little old ladies have gone to bed (around 10pm). That will be fun while it lasts.

Dean Wellman has some T

This episode we had a local digital artist, named Dean Wellman out on the show. He debuted his new short film/music video "The Last Stand". Dean is an artist of all trades, music, songwriting, video, painting, clay, metal, web, graphics, etc. He has been contributing to the show on a regular basis by submitting videos from his website Exploration Iowa. Check it out for the best in midwest arts and culture. I even have some video on the site, as well as some cameo appearances.

I also took a moment to promote the upcoming Duathlon Training Practice that Muscatine Multisport is putting on this Wednesday at Saulisbury(6pm by the bridge). If you want to try it out, bring a bike, running shoes and helmet. We will run 2miles, then bike 12 miles and then finish with another 2miles. It is a very tough workout, and everyone's times will be recorded for future reference.

I am proud to be a part of this group, and encourage anyone who wants to get in the best shape possible while meeting healthy friends to get involved. Don't worry, they know how to have fun as well. Afterall, the Missippi Brew is one of their sponsors.

Next week Yocom's Orioles will be out and we will talk about Muscatine Little League.
